Covid-19 – SQA Accreditation Advice on Accredited Qualifications
We have produced guidance for the continued assessment of SVQs. This guidance is for awarding bodies, providers and learners.
There has also been qualification specific guidance developed in conjunction with the Standards Setting Organisation Habia/Skillsactive and the relevant awarding bodies offering Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQs) in Hairdressing, Barbering, Beauty Therapy and Nail Services.
SQA Accreditation agreed with Habia/Skillsactive and the relevant awarding bodies to extend the adaptations for the assessment of these SVQs to 30 June 2022. This date will be kept under review.
Using the returns provided by our approved awarding bodies, and our discussions with them, we have identified qualifications that the relevant awarding bodies are able to continue to deliver and assess without any change to the current assessment methodologies and requirements, or to assessment strategies. They will be able to do this in line with the guidance we mentioned above. We have published the list of these qualifications in the excel file below. For some of these qualifications, there may be elements that cannot be assessed at the moment and you should check with the relevant awarding body. Where assessment continues then it is important that the Scottish Government guidelines re social distancing etc are observed.
If you are unable to find a particular qualification, this means that discussions are still ongoing about that qualification and whether it can continue to be delivered and assessed without adaptation. Any additions or amendments to any of the spreadsheet will highlighted in bold and in italics.
Please note that the spreadsheets contain information about current qualifications. If the qualification is in its lapsing period then please contact the relevant awarding body for information.
Please note that these spreadsheets are in line with the latest information we have been provided from the relevant Awarding Bodies. With fast developing government guidance, different circumstances for, and resources and capabilities of, awarding bodies and their training providers any interested parties should check and confirm the current delivery and assessment arrangements for any qualification/s with the relevant awarding body and/or training provider.
No Modification Required (updated 22/09/2021)
For some qualifications, it may be necessary for the awarding body to adapt the assessment methodology. In the spreadsheet below, we have listed those qualifications that awarding bodies will be adapting the assessment methods.
Adapt Spreadsheet (updated 15/04/2022)
Given the current situation, it may not be possible to continue with the assessment of some qualifications. In the spreadsheet below, we have listed those qualifications that awarding bodies consider that there needs to be a pause in the assessment of the qualifications. As and when circumstances change, we will ask awarding bodies to review their decision to pause.
SQA has reviewed its decision to pause some qualifications and has determined that these can be delivered and assessed with no modification required. These have been removed from the paused spreadsheet and have been added to the no modification spreadsheet and are highlighted in bold and italics.
