External Stakeholders

We work with a range of organisations in the development and regulation of qualifications.

Our work with approved Awarding Bodies involves accrediting and regulating qualifications they offer.

We advise and monitor Sector Skills Councils and other Standards Setting Organisations in the development of National Occupational Standards (NOS) and qualifications based on these.

We run regular stakeholder events.

We are funded directly by Scottish Government and are tasked by them to accredit and regulate qualifications for the benefit of Scotland. We are represented on the Modern Apprenticeship Group, which is chaired by Scottish Government.

We liaise with Skills Development Scotland in the approval of Modern, Technical and Professional Apprenticeships.

As the regulator for Scotland, we liaise with our counterparts in England, Wales and Northern Ireland - Ofqual, Qualifications Wales and CCEA - on issues of interest across the UK.

Skills Development Scotland (SDS) administers funding of NOS, qualification and apprenticeship developments for Scotland. Together with SDS we monitor project delivery and approve the final products.

SQA is one of the founding members of the SCQF Partnership. As a Credit Rating Body we can credit rate any qualifications we accredit.

The Federation for Industry Sector Skills and Standards administers the MA Online system for funding and certification of Scottish apprenticeships.
